Criminal activity in the workplace poses a staggering potential for liabilities, lawsuits, and the destruction of morale. Essential to the survival of a business is its ability to decrease its liabilities. The Workforce Violence Research Institute (WVRI) has conducted extensive research into different types of workforce related violence, and has suggested that violent acts in the workplace can be decreased by simply conducting a thourough background check on any prospective employee during the hiring process. This also will lower future liability for the company which otherwise can result in costly civil lawsuits. Join discussion...

For someone who has had a background in computer education, it is quite easy to figure out if an application is perfect for one’s need and usage. However there is also the comfort that is needed especially in understanding it. Everybody maybe computer literate but not everyone is a computer expert. Join discussion...

The Future of the Internet
http://www.sesma.com
Submitted by RichAndRobust 15 months, 1 week, 4 days, 21 hours ago
Within today’s internet many fundamental problems have been identified such as security issues, untapped true rich media and lack of interoperability standards to name a few. A new model that identifies both secure computing and stunning presentation layers at its core will facilitate a paradigm shift that is long overdue to take internet applications to the next level. This new model would need to be distributed across enterprise systems and personal devices efficiently and synchronously. The fundamental problems found in the web today were birthed from early-internet ideologies and methodologies structured around massive infrastructure limitations; these fundamental problems are the brick and mortar, the DNA of today's social web – Web 2.0. A new paradigm for internet activity is needed, one which does not fringe at the edges of the latest web development and deployment methodologies. Team SESMA addresses these issues head on, with a phased approach to enablement that provides solutions to these and many other concerns facing computer and device users of today. Interoperability issues and the lack of cross platform integration have become common place in the web of today; SESMA has identified the path for enablement of a new era of web applications and is nearing its first commercial release With the current web in mind, SESMA is in position to empower new methods of interoperability with a standard for platform dependent to platform independent universal software integration. SESMA introduced this standard through the provision of solutions that enable cross platform device synchronization of multiple origins to include solutions for concurrent complexities. We call this solution the Multi-Core Application Model™. In fact, the lack of interoperability policies that standardize software integration for the benefit of all have positioned Microsoft in direct contention with the regulatory board of the European Union in recent years. We believe that Microsoft is flexing in the right direction toward compliance, yet our story still remains relevant and unique for this time. Issues of technology interoperability and lack of standardization still remain; a new era of interoperability has risen and this is what SESMA is about. Through SESMA Systems proprietary real-time, dynamic, bi-directional technology, the rendering and employment of internet activity becomes seamless providing the finest integration of true rich media and data portability standards to date – The Power of Choice™ is the message and core advantage of the SESMA platform. As you navigate through our site, you will find that some of the sections will require membership login. If you are not yet a member, registration will be required to view some of the resources offered through this site. Venture with us into a tour of how we intend to drive SESMA technology into the entire gamut of internet activity; from invention to innovation, to the next frontiers of the internet, through social, academic and enterprise computing, within the spyre™ platform, the Personal Enterprise™, SJAX™, and the Multi-Core Application Model™. SESMA Systems delivers — The Power of Choice™ Join discussion...

Adobe Air - MySpace Style Editor
http://www.pxldesigns.com/pxlblog/index.php?itemid=25
Submitted by nex828 24 months, 2 weeks, 2 days, 3 hours ago
What else could I call it?? AirSpace! What does it do? I've had a few clients asking if I could help them with the styling of their MySpace pages, so I did them one better, I made a MySpace Style Editor with Adobe Air. As far as I know, there aren't any MySpace api's to play with, but there are a ton of online style editors. Just haven't seen one built with Air yet. So far, AirSpace allows you to edit the basics of a MySpace page, fonts, font color, size for most sections, links, hover, background colors, images, contact table, cursor style and so on. But there are huge plans for AirSpace because my head's bouncing with ideas. Join discussion...

RIA can change context of use.
http://blogs.msdn.com/msmossyblog/archive/2007/09/09/ria-can...
Submitted by Mossyblog 27 months, 2 days, 18 hours ago
Context is when you look at a situation from a perspective and generally fall into a predefined segment. In that, if I look at say Microsoft Word, my context of use is to read a document - yet others may use word to construct a document. So different roles play different parts, thus the segments of the technology is defined by context. A RIA runtime, is one of these products that can reshape and redefine context under the guise of being passive while unbeknown to others, it's quite aggressive in the way it hijacks segments of use. A couple of years ago, I meet up with a fellow-RIA developer, who showed me approaches to using the runtime that I guess challenged the way in which I've approached technology. The way in which he did this, was he showed be a before and after approach to the same software, yet one had RIA and one had HTML. It was pretty much a straight forward deal; on one side you had an ugly HTML User Interface (UI) while on the other you had this rich vibrant UI. The rich vibrant UI was the easier sell, as lets face it, we do tend to at times judge a book by its cover - sorry, it does happen. Yet, one thing that stood out from the start that I couldn't quite explain to others that he conveyed to me was that the perception was changed or be it, context. Join discussion...
